Over the Bridge Arts and Bombshell Dance Project may be led by choreographers, but they’ve become known for eclectic programs that aim to create a deeper conversation between movement, music and text.

Over the Bridge’s Lori Sundeen Soderbergh has again assembled a multimedia lineup for her organization’s annual Burning Woman production, for the first time featuring male-led groups.

Seeking to raise consciousness about the environment, the variety show includes spoken-word performances by Armando Monsivais, Stefanie Wasserman and Ashley Wilkerson; live music from B.B. Carter and the band Nova Pangea, fronted by Uriel Vázquez and Carmina Murillo; and contemporary dance choreographed by Hayley Duplantier of Brevity Dance Company, Emmyana De Jesus, Allen LaPoint, Movement Empress and Fabian Herrera and Madi-Frampton Herrera. More than 20 performers are participating.

Meanwhile, Bombshell Dance Project is returning to a conventional theater after a series of site-specific performances, most recently at Deep Ellum music venue Sons of Hermann Hall.

Here Nor There, choreographed by founders Emily Bernet and Taylor Rodman, is described as “a fast-paced highly physical dive into the chaos of our minds,” featuring text by Dallas actor-producer Mac Welch. Employing dance, theater, music and immersive storytelling, it deals with the distractions that shape our relationships with ourselves, each other and the world.

“Through moments of humor, vulnerability and physical intensity,” Bernet and Rodman say, “Here Nor There invites audiences to consider the ways their attention is pulled throughout everyday life, and asks what it means to truly be present in a world increasingly shaped by notifications, noise and constant demands for our attention.”

The performers include Jenna Davis, Maria Golici, Shadden Hashem, Heather McKay and Grace Major, with lighting design by Aaron Johansen.
